Uthan Youth Parliament is opening 6-month remote internships for law and journalism students, with signed certificates, LORs and published bylines.
Every season, delegates walk into the House and argue over bills, motions and agendas. Behind each of those papers is someone who checked the law. And after each session, someone has to tell the story of what happened in the room. For Season 8, we want students who are studying to do exactly that.
Legal Research Interns
A youth parliament debate is only as good as the law behind it. As a legal intern, you will:
- Research constitutional and parliamentary procedure for our committee agendas
- Draft and fact-check bills and background guides that hundreds of delegates will read
- Advise the chairs of our Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and AIPPM committees on legal accuracy
You don't need to be a debating champion. Some knowledge of debating, and an understanding of how politics and Parliament actually work, is enough to start.
Journalism & Media Interns
Uthan needs a press gallery. As a journalism intern, you will:
- Write news reports, press releases and features
- Interview delegates, chairs and guests
- Create content for Uthan's social media
We are looking for good writing in English or Hindi, and a real interest in politics and current affairs.
What both internships give you
- A certificate and Letter of Recommendation signed by MPs and advocates.
- Your name in print. Write constitutional articles or news stories that Uthan publishes, with full credit to you on the byline. That is a real publication for your CV and LinkedIn.
- A national stage. Your work goes into a youth parliament and Model UN with 700+ delegates.
- Work from anywhere. Both internships are fully remote, so they fit around your classes.
You study the law and the news in class. Here, you get to use them.
The details
- Duration: 6 months
- Time: at least 2 hours a day
- Mode: remote
- Stipend: unpaid
We also want people who are socially active and have a good network in their college. Uthan grows through students who bring other students with them.
How to apply
Fill in the application form. It takes about five minutes, and shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 7 days.
Read more about both roles on our internships page. If you'd rather help run the event itself, look at the Secretariat.
Season 8 takes place on 24 to 25 April 2027 in New Delhi. Questions? Mail us at unnati.uthan@gmail.com.
