Something big is coming to Delhi this April. Uthan Youth Parliament returns for its eighth season on 24-25 April 2027, and if you have ever wanted to argue a bill in a simulated Lok Sabha, this is the stage for it.

What is Uthan Youth Parliament?

Uthan is the flagship youth parliament and Model UN conference of Unnati: The Knowledge Hub for Civil Aspirants, a non-profit started in December 2016 by Dr. Lokesh Chugh to give free UPSC guidance to students who have the talent but not the resources. Over the years, Uthan has grown into a national platform where school and university students debate the issues that shape India and the world.

What to expect

Two days of live, offline debate in New Delhi. Past seasons have placed delegates inside simulations of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and the All India Political Parties Meet, alongside international committees, with Members of Parliament and senior civil servants joining as judges and guests. Delegates come away understanding how laws and policies actually get made, not just how they sound in speeches.

Who is it for?

School students and university students who have a view and want to be heard.

Start warming up now

1. Read the news every day and pick one issue that matters to you.

2. Write down the strongest argument for it and the strongest argument against it.

3. Practise speaking for 60 seconds without notes.

4. Watch a Lok Sabha debate and notice how the best speakers structure a point.

Uthan is not just about speaking. It is about being heard. More details are on the way, so keep an eye on this space. See you in Delhi.

Research, write, speak, negotiate. A short guide for first-time delegates walking into a committee room.

Walking into your first committee can feel overwhelming. Here is how to prepare so you can focus on the debate rather than the nerves.

1. Know your portfolio

Understand who you represent, what they have said publicly, and where they stand on the agenda. Your arguments should sound like your portfolio, not like you.

2. Research the agenda, not just the headlines

Read the background guide end to end.

Note three to five key facts you can cite with sources.

Anticipate the strongest argument against your position.

3. Prepare an opening speech

Keep it under ninety seconds. State your position, give one strong reason, and propose one direction for the committee.

4. Negotiate between sessions

Much of the real work happens during unmoderated caucuses. Find delegates with overlapping interests early and draft together.

The best delegates listen more than they speak.

5. Stay in the room

Even when your point is not on the floor, follow the debate closely. Good amendments come from paying attention.

See you in the House.
