Frequently asked questions

A youth parliament is a simulation in which students take the roles of members of parliament or delegates. They research an agenda, debate motions and bills, negotiate with other members and vote, following the procedures of a real house. It is a practical way to learn how laws and policies are made.

Uthan is Unnati's flagship youth parliament, founded by Dr. Lokesh Chugh. Each season brings students together for two days inside a full simulation of the Indian Parliament and international committees. Season 8, the eighth sitting, takes place on 24–25 April 2027. See Season 8.

Season 8 is open to students from Grade 6 and above. Past seasons have brought together school and university students from across India.

Registrations for Season 8 open soon. When they do, the sign-up link will be on the Uthan Youth Parliament page. Follow Uthan on Instagram to hear as soon as they open.

The delegate fee for each season is announced when registrations open, on the Uthan page and in the season's brochure.

Past seasons have recognised delegates with certificates, awards and cash prizes, with sessions judged by Members of Parliament and senior civil servants.

The Season 8 committee matrix will be revealed soon. Season 7 had the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, All India Political Parties Meet, a Review Commission, UNODC, the Public Accounts Committee, a Stakeholders' Meet, a Crisis Committee, an IPL Auctions committee, Marvel v. DC and a National Press corps. See the Season 7 committees.

The venue for Season 8 will be revealed soon. Season 7 was held at the Management Education & Research Institute (MERI), Janakpuri, Delhi.
